Hi we only stayed for one night, my wife has trouble climbing stairs, and we were found a ground floor room we found the desk staff cheerful chatty and very helpful ps we also enjoyed a nice breakfast-----thanks-----peter

The room was spacious. It was easy to find and easy to get to. The health club facilities nearby although did not get a chance to use them.

The price of the breakfast was very high. We were in a big group, of about 16 - 20. Most of us ate at the nearby pub attached to the premier inn as the breakfast there was cheaper. The decor was a bit jaded. When you switched the hot water on in the bathroom (in the sink) there was a loud noise.

    Reception staff are very friendly.

The hotel is very dated and food selection in the restaurant was terrible. To be honest it isn't really a restaurant!

I filled in the questionaire at the time of our stay

The staff were charming !! the beauty of building itself and the surrounding countryside enhanced our stay tremendously. The room we had, was elegant and tastefully furnished (we were astonished to find a telephone in the loo !!).. and the view from our window was fabulous !! all in all, excellent in (almost) every way !! see below !!!!

There was a charming Italian chap who was in charge of a very sparsely designed ''Railway Station'' type ''cafe'' !! chairs were not comfortable, and almost everything on the menu... was off the menu !! however !! what we did have were three (there were 3 of us, we were being treated to dinner by a friend) of the best steaks we've ever had !! truly superb quality beef, tender and full of flavour - and the charm of the lovely Italian chef made up for the inadequacies of the ''restaurant''' (hmmmmm !!) itself.

    comfortable large bed

Lighting poor in room - ensuite dated, non smoking room smelt of smoke. On tight schedule so could not report.

  • Group of friends
    6.2

The friendlyness of the staff and the size of the room

The size of the restaurant and the menu availability also unable to get anything to eat before 5pm

Very large room. The window opened. Internet access. Tea and coffee facilities. Comfortable bed.

Fridge didn't work throughout. I asked reception if there was ice as the fridge wasn't working, and there was, but nobody came to check the fridge. On the second morning the shower was icy cold despite running it and the bath connection for 5 minutes - very wasteful of water. Had to shower using the ice bucket and hot water from the sink.

    The staff present were pleasant

No garden seating area - had to sit at the entrance in the carpark Not much choice of drinks - limited Room service being restricted - could only get crisps Close to a busy road - hear traffic noise Mini bar had just two bottles of water in it - no other refreshments

  • Family with children
    9.2

Child stayed free on the sofa bed (made up ready) in our room. Night duty staff in reception meant our late arrival (after midnight) not a problem. Parking.

The spaciousness of the room, 210

Very disappointing looking dining facility...so ate out!

  • Older travelers

    Quiet comfortable room.

Drakes Restaurant meals were overpriced. Car park was very overcrowded because of problems with flooding in the establishment next door.

  • Older travelers

The Hotel was not very clean, the room was noisy, the grounds were untidy(particularly at the back) The water system could scald the unwary. The aircon sounded the worse for wear.

The room smelled of stale cigarettes and bodies. The pillows were hard. There was no hot water in the shower. When i went to report it - after I had dressed - the maintenance man told me he knew about the problem!!! Then why put me in a room like that????? It was before breakfast that I reported the issue. When I asked at check why no one offered me a room to go shower in the receptionist said - 'I didnt ask for one" Well actually it would have been nice to have been "offered" one. There was a receptionist standing beside the maintenance man when I gave the report over. The smell in the room was just horrible. Pillows had seen better days. Not that clean in the bathroom either. The next night I stayed, via you, at the Premier Lodge in Luton - top top top class!!!! No comparison. I would be gratefu if you could consider a refund for the Holiday Inn stay - very very poor. They need to look at their service and standards!

The room was a very good size ,Light and airy

Reception was a bit small and scruffy as was the breakfast bar area.
